Question 3

Is registration required by law?

Accepted Answer

No. There is no legal requirement in the United States to register or certify a service animal, and no requirement to carry identification. Many handlers choose to carry an ID card simply to make everyday interactions easier.

Question 4

Will a business have to accept my card?

Accepted Answer

No. Businesses are not legally required to accept any identification card. Access rights come from the ADA and applicable state law, not from this card. The information printed on the back of the card is intended to help conversations go smoothly.

Question 5

Do you ask about my disability or my dog's tasks?

Accepted Answer

No. We never ask for medical information, a diagnosis, a description of your disability, or the specific tasks your dog performs. The registration is declaration-based.

Question 6

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

A one-time payment of $19.99 per registration. There is no subscription and no recurring billing.

Question 7

How many dogs can I register?

Accepted Answer

One dog per registration. If you have more than one service dog, complete a separate registration for each.

Question 8

Can I change the information after payment?

Accepted Answer

No. The registration is final once payment is confirmed, which is why the details are shown for review before checkout. Contact support if something is materially incorrect.

Question 9

What is public and what stays private?

Accepted Answer

Your dog's details, your first and last name, your city and state, your registration number and registration date appear on the verification page and certificate. Your email address and all payment information stay private and are never shown publicly.

Question 10

How long does my registration stay valid?

Accepted Answer

The registration number and QR verification page remain available indefinitely unless the record is removed for a legitimate legal or technical reason.

Question 11

Is service dog registration legit?

Accepted Answer

Private registries are legal to operate, but they are not government programs and do not confer legal rights. They simply create a voluntary identification record that some handlers find convenient.

Do service dogs need to be registered?
